Baby K's Nursery Reveal!

Matt and I managed to (mostly) finish Baby K's nursery before he's born.  I know he won't use this room right away, but I really like having it done before his big arrival.  I think the only thing I have left to do is paint some new closet doors and replace the ceiling fan.  Not bad!

I posted back in February about my ideas for the space. For the most part, I stuck to this plan which rarely ever happens.   The only thing I switched out is the navy campaign dresser from Land of Nod. I actually bought it and returned it. :/  While I still really love the piece, the dimensions weren't working out.

As I mentioned in my last post, we replaced the carpeting and painted the walls and trim.  Click here for details on what carpet we used and what color we painted the walls.

The room is a mix of high and low end pieces, store bought items, and DIY projects.

One of the projects I tackled before my belly really got in the way was adding an accent wall with removable wallpaper.

Having to cut around the window and the fact that I ordered 1/2 as much as I needed the first time made this project a bit of a pain, but if you have one wall with no door openings or windows, it's really pretty easy to do.  I also worked by myself which made things a little more difficult.  If you're patient enough to wait for a partner to help you (unlike me), it would also make things a lot easier. This is the paper  I ordered from Livettes on Etsy.  My one complaint is that the navy rubbed off if I wasn't careful.  I quickly learned to use a towel to smooth out bubbles rather than my sweaty palms.

Another project I took on was painting the drawers of an old IKEA Hemnes dresser Shade Grown by Sherwin Williams and switching out the knobs for cute elephant knobs from Target (unfortunately no longer available online).

I'm using the dresser as a changer/dresser combo.  I bought the changing pad and cover from Land of Nod.  The "Seek Adventure" sign, sailboat, and Sophie are from Target.  The white shelf is one I had kicking around (originally purchased from Lowe's).

I received so many great bins/baskets at my baby shower.  At first I didn't think I'd be able to use them all but that wasn't the case.  This navy basket holds swaddles and small blankets.

The top drawer of the dresser I'm using to store diapers and wipes.  I added some plastic bins from Target to help organize the drawer.

I found this great rocker/ottoman combo on Walmart.com of all places. The whole set costs around $300 and I'm really happy with it.  I was psyched when I found an upholstered chair with a wooden rocker on the bottom.  Most of the chairs I found like this cost 2 to 3 times as much!

Next to the rocker I placed the Modern Spindle Side Table from Pottery Barn. and topped it with this cute lamp from Target and a sweet ultrasound photo of our little man.  The frame was a shower gift, from Hallmark, I believe.

This adorable Moose rocker was HANDMADE by my sister and her fiance.  Talk about skills!  I absolutely love having these handmade pieces that we will keep for years and years.

My husband crafted these birch wood swings after I saw the idea on Garden Therapy's blog. Head over to her blog for a quick tutorial.

One of my favorite pieces in the room is this wood sign I ordered from House of Belonging's Etsy shop, "Something Tells Me I Am Going to Love Him Forever." The crib is the Elliot 3 in 1 Convertible Crib from Pottery Barn and I purchased the crib sheet from Pottery Barn as well.

The bookshelf is filled with books I received at my shower, 2 sweet piggy banks (also gifts), handmade animal canvases made by my dear friend, and an antique airplane that Matt and I found on our babymoon in Vermont.

The opposite side of the room, I hung two cute prints from Nothing Panda's Etsy shop and framed them in frames I found at Homegoods.  The giraffe  (aka "big Sophie") was a gift from my Mom (somehow she knew I had my eyes on it!).

The linen curtains are from Land of Nod.  I was so happy when I finally found linen curtain panels that wouldn't crush my bank account.  They aren't blackout (as I originally wanted) but they are lined.

Matt installed a solar-powered blackout skylight shade which really helps with the amount of light and heat this room gets when the sun is shining.

I really hope Baby K loves his room as much as his parents do!
